A day out

November 30th, 2006

Forgot to post it yesterday as I was so busy biting things but we went to the German market in Birmingham to pick up some yummy dark bread for Mama.

I think she enjoyed it and felt a little happier with all the little wooden huts around. If you haven’t been, I thoroughly recommend it and long may it continue and the Tories don’t tr to get rid of it like they were planning a couple of years ago.

Finally a rest

November 21st, 2006

I have for the last couple of weeks been busy teaching Papa how to build his website. You can see it here.

That should keep him busy while I get on with this learning to walk thing. Should be back to a bit more blogging for myself now as well.

Doing my rounds

November 16th, 2006

Following on from the previous visitor we had to my house I was surprised to find that they had left their digital camera behind, which rather niftilly has a video function. So, a return to the Mikacam is in order. Here’s me doing my rounds inspecting things and generally looking cute.

Coke, with a twist of laptop

November 15th, 2006

There are many things in the world that go well with coke (not that I’ve tried it of course) vodka, bacardi etc. However one thing that decidedly doesn’t go with coke is a laptop, to be more precise, Mama’s laptop.

The incident involved our house guest knocking over a pint glass worth of coke on Mama’s laptop yesterday. I think the incident made Mama very sad because she loved her little laptop. Papa tried taking it apart to see if he could do anything but the coke was dripping from every direction and had gotten everywhere. He will leave it to dry but suffice to say, even if he can get it going again the keyboard membrane will be completely ruined - so Mama will have to use an external keyboard at the best.

Working on a new project

November 14th, 2006

Been a bit busy lately helping Papa work on a new web project. All will become clear in the next month or so. Suffice to say, it’s something a bit special.

Going up in the world

November 12th, 2006

Today or to be more precise, yesterday, marked one of those major advances. I’ve noticed for quite a while that the big people, Mama and Papa, and indeed all other big and not so big but bigger than me people stand up on their legs to move around.

I’ve been standing up with the aid of various things to hold for months now, but I’ve not been able to get up on my own as it were. However, that has all changed now as I made my first tentative experiment in standing on my own two feet. It only lasted all of a second or so before I was back down on my bottom but it’s something that I’m definitely going to be working on in the future as it opens up all kinds of possibility for improved mobility.

Another word passes my lips

November 11th, 2006

In addition to learning who one of the big people in my house is, I now know who the other is. His name is Papa - he is easy to recognise because he is the silly one. I know I have been a little lazy with the posts lately but as one visitor leaves another arrives and the house has continued to be hectic for the past few weeks.

Finding my voice

November 2nd, 2006

It has been a busy couple of days, so a quick rundown. On Tuesday we all went to a place somewhere in Birmingham where all the yummy chocolate in purple wrappers comes from. I somehow think that the big person who feeds me had rather a good time there as she is a chocolate monster.

Today, which is actually yesterday as it is past midnight we all took a trip to central Birmingham to show our visitors around and buy nice things for me.

That leads me on to the main element of today’s entry. I now know that the big person who feeds me is not called ‘the big person who feeds me’ whatever hair colour she has. She is in fact called ‘mama’. So there you have it, not very imaginative I know, but my first intelligible word was mama. Just a brief clarification for my English speaking readers. ‘Mama’ is German for ‘mommy’. This is definitely a step in the right direction on developing my oral skills although I don’t think I’ll make the call for speakers at this year Royal Institute Christmas lectures.

Oh, and I still haven’t got a clue what the other big person who lives with me is called but I’ll try and work it out one of these days.
